Polaris is a browser extension that analyses publicly visible profile and tweet data on X (formerly Twitter). It is designed as a privacy-first, local-only tool. No data ever leaves your browser.
When you visit an X profile and use Polaris, the extension reads publicly visible information from the page, including:
This is the same information visible to anyone viewing the profile on X. Polaris does not access any private data, direct messages, or information that requires authentication.
All data is stored locally on your device using your browser's built-in IndexedDB storage. Extension preferences (such as the tweet scan cap and auto-track setting) are stored in chrome.storage.local.
No data is transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party. Polaris makes zero network requests. There is no analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind.
Polaris allows you to export your locally stored data as JSONL (JSON Lines) files. These exports are generated entirely within your browser and saved to your local file system. No data is uploaded during export.
You can delete all stored data at any time using the "Clear All Data" button in the Polaris settings panel. You can also delete data for individual profiles from the analytics dashboard. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data.
Polaris does not use any third-party services, APIs, SDKs, or analytics platforms. It does not communicate with X's API or any other external service.
Polaris requests the minimum permissions required to function:
